Approximately 550 schools will access the Health Teacher curriculum via the internet and will receive approximately 550 binder sets. The training for most of these schools has already occurred.
Health Teacher is intended to address the top six health risk behaviors identified by the CDC: tobacco use; unhealthy dietary behaviors; inadequate physical activity; alcohol and other drug use; sexual behaviors that contribute to unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV infection; and behaviors that contribute to unintentional injuries and violence.
Health Teacher topic areas include substance use and abuse prevention, injury prevention and personal safety, HIV/AIDS and illness prevention, community health and safety, violence prevention, growth and development, environmental health, and social/emotional health.
