Sex Education and Puberty Resources
The FLAE Program is one component of CPS' comprehensive school health program that begins in kindergarten and extends through high school. At developmentally appropriate ages, students are introduced to the roles and responsibilities of family members; the formation of healthy social relationships; human growth and development from pregnancy through birth, puberty and adulthood; human sexuality; and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections ("STIs"), including HIV. The FLAE Handbook includes an overview of the FLAE Program and a detailed summary of the curricular focus for each grade. It also includes a list of teaching resources and approved supplemental community resources.
